STATEMENT OF DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION
Wilderness Volunteers recognizes that public lands belong to everyone. We are committed to promoting a culture of equity and inclusion in our organization.
We welcome the unique perspectives, experiences, skills and backgrounds that a diverse group provides and believe that diversity and inclusion are key to both the long-term health and effective stewardship of our public lands.
Wilderness Volunteers commits to:
- Providing a welcoming and safe environment for all volunteers;
- Striving to increase diversity on service projects by keeping our project fees affordable and using inclusive marketing and representative advertising;
- Promoting diversity on our Board of Directors, staff, and leadership bodies;
- Encouraging inclusivity and equity on our service projects by providing ongoing training to our Board, staff, and project leaders.
Diversity: variety in race, ethnicity, color, national origin, ancestry, gender, creed, religion, age, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, veteran status, marital status, medical condition, pregnancy, education, class, political affiliation, or parental status.
Inclusion: the achievement of an environment in which all individuals are treated fairly and respectfully, have equal access to opportunities and resources, and can participate fully.
Equity: the fair treatment, access, opportunity, and advancement for all people, while at the same time striving to identify and eliminate barriers that have prevented the full participation of some groups.
