Service Project Details
Join us for a week of fuel reduction and planting work in the City of Rocks National Reserve. We’ll work alongside the NPS to remove dead Pinyon Pine killed by black stain root rot and will also be planting native vegetation seed to promote new growth. National Park personnel will cut the trees into large pieces before the start of the project and during the project and our volunteer crew will cut into smaller materials (with reciprocating saws or
hand saws) and carry the material to the park’s dump truck located 100ft. from the project area. The material will then be transported by park personnel to the administrative unit for burning.
Some volunteers need to be able to lift 50 lbs. throughout the day while others can focus on
carrying small materials.
