Spend a week in the gorgeous Lye Brook Wilderness. We’ll spend the week on trail maintenance: clearing brush and blow-downs along ~2.5 miles of the Lye Brook trail (Forest Trail 431) utilizing hand saws, loppers, and cross-cut saws.

Spend a week in the gorgeous Lye Brook Wilderness. We’ll spend the week on trail maintenance: clearing brush and blow-downs along ~2.5 miles of the Lye Brook trail (Forest Trail 431) utilizing hand saws, loppers, and cross-cut saws. The proposed project area is a section of trail that runs through a wetland complex area that is heavily overgrown by grasses, sedges, and herbaceous plants and difficult to way-find for many visitors.

Itinerary:
Sunday, October 8th. The volunteer group will meet in the morning at a time/place TBD. The group will go through check-in, introductions, and orientation. The crew will then hike in and set up our basecamp for the week.
Monday, October 9th. Workday.
Tuesday, October 10th. Workday.
Wednesday, October 11th. Day off.
Thursday, October 12th. Workday.
Friday, October 13th. Workday.
Saturday, October 14th. Break down camp, hike out, good-byes, and depart.
Free Time Details
There are many recreational opportunities in the area including hiking the Appalachian trail (Stratton Pond and fire tower) or fishing, paddle boarding, or canoeing at Branch and Bourn Ponds. Visit and tour historic Arlington and Manchester, VT, visit the Fly Fishing Museum or Lincoln Family home in Manchester, visit a local orchard or farm, and tour historic covered bridges. Visit a resort with summer activities: Bromley Mountain or Stratton Mountain which feature gondola rides, adventure centers, zip lines, ropes courses, and downhill mountain biking.
