Visit West Virginia’s stunning New River Gorge National Park and Preserve and spend the week volunteering to remove invasive plants, pick up trash and plastics, maintain trails, and do small projects.
Service Project Details
We’re stoked to return to the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve where our volunteers will spend the week addressing invasive plants, picking up trash and plastics, trail maintenance, and small projects if time allows. Volunteers will spend the week with the park’s natural resource team to control invasive plants in globally rare plant communities and remove plastic/trash from streams and riparian areas.

Itinerary:
Sunday, September 10th. The Volunteer group meets at midday at a time/place TBD. The group will go through check-in, introductions, orientation, and will help set up camp in preparation for the work week ahead.
Monday, September 11th. Workday.
Tuesday, September 12th. Workday.
Wednesday, September 13th. Day off.
Thursday, September 14th. Workday.
Friday, September 15th. Workday.
Saturday, September 16th. Break down camp, goodbyes, and depart.

Free Time Details
Hiking the numerous trails, driving to various historic sites throughout the park, viewing the New River Gorge Bridge, viewing wildlife, photography, relaxation, rafting (before or after the project), etc. Fish (with proper licensing), or explore three National Parks and five State Parks
Accommodations
Dormitory stays at Camp Brookside. Camp Brookside has cabins, a restroom/washroom, a mess hall, a full kitchen, a lodge, etc.
