We’re excited to return to Dixie National Forest for a week of fence replacement near the Upper Valley Yurt.
Service Project Details
We’re excited to return to Dixie National Forest for a week of rebuilding the Upper Valley Guard Station fence. The fence encompasses a meadow with a gallery of springs and has fallen into disrepair. New rails are needed to protect the large riparian area.

Itinerary:
Sunday, June 16th. The Volunteer group meets at a time/place TBD. The group will go through check-in, introductions, orientation, and will help set up camp in preparation for the work week ahead.
Monday, June 17th. Workday.
Tuesday, June 18th. Workday.
Wednesday, June 19th. Day off.
Thursday, June 20th. Workday.
Friday, June 21st. Workday.
Saturday, June 22nd. Break down camp, good-byes, depart.
Free Time Details
The Upper Valley Yurt is located above a large meadow with stunning views of Powell Point and
the forest surrounding Canaan Peak. Multiple trails can be found within the Upper Valley area
such as Under the Rim trail and Mt. Canaan Peak. The worksite and basecamp are located a few
miles off Highway 12, a scenic highway that provides ample opportunity for exploring the best of
southern Utah. This highway puts volunteers within an hour’s drive of Bryce Canyon National Park,
Escalante Petrified Forest State Park, Anasazi State Park, and the Grand Staircase Escalante
National Monument.
Accommodations
Front Country: remote tent camping near cars. This project will have the use of the Upper Valley Yurt for staging and cooking. The yurt has a vault toilet.
