Service Project Details
This project will focus on stabilizing areas of trail in the Sabrina Basin leading to Baboon and Donkey Lakes that are severely eroded. The bulk of the work will include the construction of trail structures such as check steps and retaining walls, filling and crushing in sunken sections of trail, and naturalizing and blocking off braided sections of trail. The trails in this area are classes 1 and 2, our most primitive and minimal trail classes, meaning that the structures and construction practices will be as minimally impactful as possible. Other work for this project will include trail delineation and brushing the trail corridor.
Project Leaders: Kathleen Worley and Misha Kokotovic
This is a high-elevation project: 9000′-10500’+. We strongly encourage all participants in this project to get to the area a few days ahead of time to properly acclimate.
