Service Project Details
The Never Summer Wilderness, located near Grand Lake, CO, earned its namesake due to its peaks that remain snowcapped almost year-round, and its bountiful precipitation. In the early summer, high runoff creates roaring rapids in its normally calm creeks, which often creates hazards for hikers, backpackers, and equestrians. Because this is one of the lesser-used Wilderness areas in the region, it has been neglected for many years and has taken low priority when it comes to trail maintenance. As a result, many trail structures and signs are falling apart and no longer do their jobs. We plan to knock out a handful of small projects that range from sign installation, simple single-stringer bridge construction, turnpike construction, and rock step installation, etc.
