Service Project Details
Sign up for a week of much-needed trail work in the Tonto National Forest’s Superstition Wilderness. Limited staff and resources have caused neglect to this area, with most of the wilderness burned in the 2019 Woodbury fire. Our volunteer crew will spend the week completing trail work, including crosscut work, brushing, improving tread, and way-finding cairn construction. Volunteers need to be prepared for daily ~3-mile one-way hikes, as we work the West Pinto Trail in eastern Superstition Wilderness.
The road is windy, steep, and narrow in sections. Multiple spots would not be suitable for a low clearance vehicle or sedan. 4×4 and high clearance are highly recommended. Carpooling between the volunteer crew to the campsite may be arranged but isn’t guaranteed.
