We’re excited to launch the Wilderness Volunteers 2025 Photo Contest! Grab a beverage, cozy up on the couch, and start looking through your 2025 project photos! We have great prizes for the winners of some fun categories:
All Things Work – Pictures depicting project work, the tools used, hiking on the trail, etc., that were observed during a 2025 Wilderness Volunteers project.
All Things Nature – Pictures depicting the wildlife, flowers, plants, trees, weather, etc., found or observed during a 2025 Wilderness Volunteers project.
All Things Landscape – Pictures capturing the landscapes experienced during a 2025 Wilderness Volunteers project.
Wild Card – Pictures that depict an experience during a 2025 Wilderness Volunteers project. This can include camp life, chores, group shots, day off fun, etc.

Official Contest Rules:
- All submissions must include your full name and the 2025 project your image is from in the file title. Example: LizLemon_NewRiverGorge.jpg. We cannot stress this requirement enough; every year we disqualify stunning photos because this requirement is not met.
- All submissions must be taken on a 2025 Wilderness Volunteers project.
- All submissions must depict compliance with Leave No Trace ethics and principles and general safety practices.
- Photos with added text, a series of photos submitted as one (a diptych, triptych, or collage style, for example), or excessive editing will be ineligible for consideration.
- The contest is open to all Wilderness Volunteers project participants and leaders, excluding WV staff, contest judges, and their families.
- Photographs will be judged on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact, and artistic merit. Awards will be selected by a panel of judges, and all decisions are final.
- Entries must be submitted to the appropriate gallery by 11:59 UTC on Sunday, January 18th, 2026.
- Winners will be notified by email, and Wilderness Volunteers is not responsible for lost or damaged prizes.
