Service Project Details
Spend a week in this mesmerizing Utah national park! Our project will include various vegetation management tasks throughout Bryce Canyon National Park, ranging from boundary fence repair to seed collection.
- Repair broken barbed wire fence to keep cattle on adjacent Dixie National Forest grazing allotments from entering NPS administered lands. Cattle cause damage to water, soil, and vegetation resources in the park.
- Pile slash created during mechanical thinning projects to help the park reduce accumulated hazardous fuels and lower the risk of catastrophic wildfire in its ponderosa forests.
- Collect native seed to be used in upcoming restoration projects. Native grasses and forbs are valuable in recovering disturbed areas and the park needs lots of hands to help collect it.
- Surveying for and possibly help with a lop-and-scatter treatment of a seriously damaging invasive insect recently found in park aspen stands.
This is a high-elevation project: 7000′-9500′ ft.
