Spend the week working with the Denali National Park Trail Crew on the 4th and final year of construction on the new 10-mile Nenana River Trail. Winding along the Nenana River, our work will include brushing, limbing, bench cut construction, and other types of work consistent with new trail construction. We’ll put in four days of trail work, and then have a free day to explore the wonders of Denali. Volunteers will need to be able to comfortably hike up to 5 miles daily and have the stamina to work 4 days back-to-back.
We will be based out of the Admin Camp, which is a collection of huts (two bunks/beds per hut), two co-ed trailers (shower/bath house and a kitchen), a great porch, a fire ring, and a pavilion. We’ll be under a tenth of a mile away from the Riley Creek Mercantile, which carries a variety of goodies and necessities. We will do our best to pair folks accordingly (couples, etc.), but we cannot guarantee same-sex accommodations. Volunteers are welcome to tent camp at Admin Camp.
A firm 60-day go/no-go will be in place for this project. Accepted volunteers will need to provide flight or travel information to project leaders between 50-59 days before the meeting date of the project to ensure commitment to the project.
